Luana Pontes is a passionate creative writer and emerging literary events entrepreneur.
As the founder and project manager of Lux Lit Presents, she has spearheaded several open mic nights and networking events, significantly boosting the visibility of emerging voices in the literary arts.
Her vibrant and collaborative spirit brings Luana a uniquely artistic touch to every project she undertakes. In celebration of Black History Month, Luana collaborated with five Black spoken word artists to host a series of writing and performance workshops, ending with a Spoken Word event in London on Saturday, November 2nd.
The workshops and event, themed ‘Unearthing Peace & Resolution,’ will explore the open letter and spoken word forms. As an experimental writer, Luana challenges traditional literary forms, crafting innovative language to present her discourse and sharing her unique writing strategies with others. This event will offer a valuable networking opportunity for young Black creatives seeking to connect with experienced Black artists. Beyond her work with Lux Lit Presents, Luana likes to dig her fingers in as many creative pots as possible!
Luana is part of the Cayr Charity Public Health & Arts Mentorship Programme, where she merges her artistic and social advocacy skills. Here, she is developing a creative writing programme for young men experiencing mental ill-health which will culminate in a poetry anthology taking place next year. She is also in the process of developing her first poetry anthology for publication!
As an early-career artist, Luana looks forward to expanding the reach and impact of her initiatives and continuing her contributions to the arts community.
